Ladies and gentlemen,
As announced I'm proposing to start a Ladder tournament for AoS. Below is the tournament pack, although in this case it's more of a list of suggestions...
Anyone interested please pm me on here, Facebook, WhatsApp or speak to me in person.
This is designed to be a chilled out friendly competition with very little at stake beyond bragging rights (and possibly sweeties if people are nice to each other).
Any and all suggestions and comments are welcome.
Tournament details...
Ladder tournament
Since the release of the Generals Handbook there has been an increase in the amount of Age of Sigmar being played at the club; yes, we all mourn the death of the old world but I think a lot of us are surprised at how much fun the new game actually is and how in depth the tactical element is. It’s also proving to be a welcome alternative for some players to 40K (you all know what I’m talking about, let’s not dwell too much on it…).
Dean and I wanted to try and do something a little bit interesting and competitive (in a friendly way) with AoS and both of us thought the Ladder Tournament style would fit this nicely. As this is most people’s first foray into the game this is going to be a very casual event with no painting requirements. Participant’s are free to change lists and even armies at any point during the tournament. There will be prizes at the end of the three months, they will be of low monetary value and likely tongue in cheek in nature (suggestions for prizes welcome…). Players who fancy trying the system are more than welcome to borrow my models.
The structure of a Ladder tournament is described in the Generals Handbook (p102) and we will be following that. Basically it works like this: Everyone’s name is in a list (the ladder). If you beat someone who is in a higher position than you in the list you change places with them. If you beat someone lower than you, you go up a place. If players draw they don’t move around the ladder.
All names to be in by the end of March then there will be a random draw for the initial order. More players can join but any names supplied after that go in at last place on the ladder.
Forces – Any army, no restrictions. Point values 750pts and up (this allows for the get started boxes to be used). No painting restrictions. Bases used must either be the bases supplied for Warhammer or Age of SIgmar (i.e the official GW sized square bases or round bases).
Proxys are allowed, but please be sensible – the game still uses true line of sight and base size is an issue. If you can, proxy a model of a similar size. Opponents must agree any proxys prior to the game being played, there is no compulsion for your opponent to agree the proxy, so be nice about it.
Games – players decide games between themselves. No calendar. Agree points values and talk about which armies you will use before the game.
Players can change races / armies as much as they like during the tournament
The tournament ends 20th October 2017
All current FAQs and Books are used, with updates being brought in as and when they are released. Please use the most updated version of rules available (No old books wherever possible)
All measurements are made from the base, this avoids difficulties with models who have outstretched arms and the riders of monstrous creatures who, in theory, cannot hit anything as they are more than 1” from the edge of their mount…
There are two rules to be adhered to at all times.
1- The rule of cool.
2- Don’t be a dick.
Breaking these rules will result in me getting grumpy and Dean giving you the skunk-eye and whispering about you behind your back…
