The first game in group A was played last night.
Secure was won 2-0 by Luke's Dark Elves vs my noble Beasts. I'll post a battle rep in due course

Friday saw the second game of group A played between myself and Martin. It ended up a very close game of 'Invade' with neither of us achieving secondary objectives. I'll link a battle report later in the week.

I played my final game against Alistair on Friday with the Dawn attack scenario with the random deployment seeing us in opposite corners and the first few turns spent with both of us rearranging battle lines so we ended up almost playing battle of the pass. Despite getting the moral victory in terms of casualties, my wretched Doombull blocked my Unit of Gor scoring on the final turn, gifting Alistair the win 2-1. He also completed his secret mission and prevented mine giving him a well deserved victory.

On the 12th, Luke faced off against Martin with the Scenario as Loot. By Turn 4, Luke had control of 2 loot counters and had broken Martin's fortitude. He also completed his Hero-hammered objective giving him the maximum points for an unpainted army and a win of 23-7. This puts him top of the table.

On the 19th, Luke's Dark Elves played their final game vs Alistair's Orcs.
Edit: They played eliminate and Luke won with maximum points (bar painted), getting his raid the baggage mission and prevented Alistair claiming his secondary mission.
This result cements Luke's position at the top of the group A table and the winner qualifying spot.

In the final game of the group Alistair's Orcs and Goblins faced off against Martin's Dwarves with Alistair needing a draw or better or, a loss and completion of his secondary mission to qualify for the knockouts. In his own words:
"With my troops suffering badly from animosity at the start, my goblin wolf riders charged into double their number of dwarfs and were wiped out as my dice (hopefully) used up their years supply of 'ones'. The others just stood around discussing the football results.
Eventually they decided to notice that there were thousands of dwarfs in the area, what with being shot at by cannons and crossbows, and charged at them.
After that, despite some very good rolls in the magic phase, it went a bit downhill (in a saxons at Hastings sort of way).
Following a much deserved victory....
.....for Martin, I scored 7 points"
The result meant that Alistair missed out on the runner up spot by 3 points. I've updated the final group position table. The points for Martin may not be entirely accurate as at the point of writing I don't know if he completed his secondary mission on the final game but either way it wouldn't have impacted the final group standings.
