Group D kicked off on Friday with a Game between Paul and Tim with the Invade Scenario. In Tim's words:
Last night Paul and I had our league game. We played Battle for the Pass - only realising at the end of turn 5 that we weren’t playing victory points but getting fortitude units into the opponents half.
Had we been playing victory points I would have won by around 2,000 The only unit I lost totally was 10 bowmen (65 points) whereas all Paul had left was his greyseer and 7 plague monks.
However those plague monks were in my half and none of my units were in his. So TECHNICALLY it was a win to Paul. But I am very much claiming the moral victory!
We both got our secret mission as well. Paul delivered his message to the spy in my knights of the realm (quite how a rat can disguise himself as a knight on horseback I don’t know but there you are) and my Pegasus knights could see what they could see from a hill in the middle.
Despite my disappointment at losing having actually won with an army everyone says is useless, it was one of the most enjoyable games of 8th I’ve had in a long time!

With the deadline for group games fast approaching, there have been a few additional games played. In this group Alex's High Elves faced off against Paul's Skaven, fighting over the Wicked Woods with Alex claiming a win with his spear elves claiming the woods.
Alex killed off the Grey Seer with a lucky Penumbral pendulum in turn 1 preventing him from getting his secondary mission, cut off the head. Paul did complete his secondary mission of deliver a message so the final score was: 19-15 in Alex's favour.
This result means Paul is top of the group still and Alex trails Tim by a single point.

The final game of the group was not played before the closing of the group stages so the final result for the group is Paul and his Skaven topping it and Tim and the Bretonnians claiming the runner up spot by a single point!
