This will be the thread to chart the knockout stages of the competition. To clarify: the top two places in each group will progress to the knockouts. There will be no wildcard entries.

So far 3 of the Quarter-finals have been played with the last one due to go ahead on Friday. Quarter Final 2
The first to be played was between Neil (Lizardmen) and Antonio (High Elves), renewing their rivalry. Both had something to prove with Antonio having knocked out Neil in the previous Warhammer comp (and then going on to win it) whilst Neil had come out on top in the inaugural Kings of War final between them. This time it was Neil who was the victor and became the first person into the Semi-Finals. Both Generals took the secret mission, take a message (I believe). Quarter Final 4
The next QF to played was between myself (Beastmen) and Paul (Skaven) in the battle of the 7th Edition books with the winner already knowing that their next opponent would be the Neil (not a match up sane general would want! ). In this invade scenario, the Beastmen gained the upper hand and the Skaven were sent running back to their burrows. Both Generals took Raid the Baggage missions (and both failed to achieve it!). A full write up can be found here on my blog.
Quarter Final 3
QF 3 was a match up between Luke B (Warriors) and Steve (High Elves). To quote Steve: Just a quick note to let you know that, last night, Luke and I played our fun, but cagey, quarter final to a glorious draw. Which means that, since you* couldn’t be bothered to paint the army that you* so generously lent me, Luke goes through to the semi-final with his lovely, fully-painted Warriors. *(the party hereafter referred to as Slacker) Scenario: Secure Result: Draw Missions: High Elves: Stand on a Hill Outside Your Deployment Zone and have an Unmolested Shufti – Success Warriors – Deliver Unsolicited Mail – Ignored Points: Luke: 10 + 0 = 10 Steve: (10 + 6) * 0.5 = 8 Thanks to Luke, Antonio, Joe and Chris for 4 great games and, weirdly, thanks to you*, Mark*, for making me actually enjoy Elves, a bit..ish..but, seriously, what is it with those hats and don’t get me started on the S4 elite infantry. Which muppet was able to rationalise that nonsense…etc, etc…

Quarter Final 1
Due to an unfortunate circumstance, Tim was unable to play his game vs Luke before the cut-off so Luke gets a free ticket to the next round.
Semi-Finals
This means we have our 2 Semi-finals lined up:
1) Luke B and his Warriors vs Luke C and his Dark Elves
2) Neil and his Lizards vs my Beastmen
Can I ask that games be played by June 16.

Semi Final GamesBoth games have now been played. Semi-final 1 - Luke B's Warriors vs Luke C's Dark Elves In a exceptionally close game of Wicked Woods, Luke C got the win but due to the competition painting rules, Luke B killing Luke C's general on the final role of the dice on the 6th turn meant he completed his secondary mission and stole the win and is through to the final. Semi-final 2 - Neil R's Lizardmen vs Mark M's Beastmen The second of the games was Dawn Attack and was also a very close run thing with it again going down to the wire and Neil winning on the final turn of the game 15/11. He now faces Luke B's Warriors of Chaos in the Final. A write up of this game can be found on the forum (here: selwg.freeforums.net/thread/183/marks-battle-reports or on my blog: backtothehammerblog.wordpress.com/2018/06/19/whfb-beastmen-vs-lizardmen-semi-final-selwg-competition-game/)

Anticipation builds! Final is scheduled for 17th August so plenty of time for me to decide on how to do my magic phase.
