All, last Friday Antonio & I played the first KOW final at the club.
The scenario was Dominate, with a modified victory condition to ensure a result.
As expected this was an extremely close game, with the result being decided by a handful
of points.
The terrain layout helped me to restrict the Elf shooting, to some extent.
In The the early turns I took a slight advantage by removing Antonio's mage
with Lighting bolt 7! Plus a bolt thrower.
However several of my units had been weaken by shooting. This came to a head in T4
when I lost 3 units in one turn, in both cc and to shooting. At this point Antonio had a significant advantage.
Crucially I was finally able to remove the dragon which was proving me a problem in the next turn.
A weakened Arch fiend was able to remove an archer hord, and then survive the shooting with Antonio
rolling snake eyes on the nerve check.
Despite all this the game was still close. The game went into T7 with Antonio moving all his remaining
units into the dominate circle. However he was unable to remove my remaining Efreet.
With me going second this meant I was 5 points ahead, with just my turn to play. So alucky
victory to me.
As usual with KOW a very tight finish. A very well played game by Antonio, which ebbed and flowed. I
thought the game was lost in T4,however KOW has habit of changing very quickly.
Thanks to all the players who took part in 2017, and I hope you all enjoyed your games
in the first club KOW competition. I believe the modern term is, we are all early adopters!
Now we can all look forward to 2018 competition, kindly being organised by Alex M.
