As the dark ages competition draws to a finish, thoughts turn to the next competition.
How about a 'classical' competition this time, say from 538 BC to 493 AD. Post Babylonian to the fall of the western Roman empire.
Perhaps with a ban on heavy chariots.
I'd offer to organise it but I am flat out running the D and D campaign.

This is the period I'm interested in so it's a YES! from me. Though will I be able to paint these Macedonians in time?

No need to paint Pike armies Dean - I've got them coming out my ears and you are welcome to borrow them.
I'd be happy with this Classical period. it's interesting in part because the pike armies are brutally effective but narrow whilst some other armies have less punch but can work the flanks.
Would we use the same - pick an army but tailor your list game to game - approach? I hope so because it avoids the problem of making a mistake in selection before you've played the army that dogs you throughout the league. Instead you can try different things and develop your understanding of what works.

Thats good to know Chris, thanks. I like the idea of tweaking you army as we go as well, it will help me in the learning to build a good list department. We need someone to run this though, I'll mention it at the shout this Friday and see if anyone who doesn't read the forum wants to.

Did this get anywhere since February? I'd like to play more ADLG this year with one of my classical era armies

Dean is trying to find someone to do the organisation. There's a lot of interest because (almost) everyone has an army in this period.
