Greeting coaches,
As you all know the group stages of the 2018 SELWG league have come to a close and here are the results:
Group A winner - The Rabid Claws - Pete "Touchdown" Hales
Group B winner - White Orcs Can't Jump - Edwin "Smasher" Smith
Group C winner - The Furious Fey Folk - Chris "How did this happen?" Catling
Group D winner - The Warriors of the Screened Wind - Tim "One Match" Harper
Congratulations to the four coaches going through, the semi finals are as follows:
Semi final 1 - The Rabid Claws vs The Furious Fey Folk
Semi final 2 - White Orcs Can't Jump vs The Warriors of the Screened Wind
Note - Two rules changes are coming into play for the semi finals and the final:
- The four minute per turn rule is back. This is to say that coaches have four minutes to play their turn, coaches will need to arrange to have some kind of chronometer to keep track of the time limit. Once the clock runs out you can complete actions with the player you are currently dealing with but once that is done your turn is over.
The clock may be paused for rules queries or other such applicable occurrences (such as Dean doing the shouts...)
- There are no more draws. if at the end of the game (16 turns) the score is tied then a period of extra time will be played. This comprised of upto 8 turns, played in exactly the same way as a normal half of a Blood Bowl game, with the following exceptions; The first team to score wins the game. Coaches flip for the kick off at the beginning of the extra time period, the winner chooses whether or not to kick and the result on the kick off table is always 10 - Blitz (this goes some way to mitigating the advantage of receiving in sudden death)
In addition to the group winners we also have winners of our other awards:
Top scorer (most TDs) - Pete Hales with the Rabid Claws
Most Casualties - Mike Watkins with the Minetown Raptors
Stunty Cup - Paul Baker - The Warpstone Stealers
Best defence - TBC
The award for best defence is presently tied between Edwin Smith's WOCJ and Mark Merfield's Raiders. There is no way of seperating these teams so you two are going to have to play a game to decide the winner of the Best Defence award. Standard rules for a "friendly" game apply. This match should be played as soon as possible, preferably before semi final or final matches.
Good luck to all coaches who still have matches yet to play and your commissioners would like to say a massive thank you to all of you coaches. This has been a great league and we are looking forward to the next season. See you in November!
Nuffles best,
Commissioner Chris
