The thought occured that those not yetplaying Malifaux might benefit from a little cheat sheet explaining who some of the characters are. I'll therefore post a few details, but if there is anything you, dear reader, would like to know/have explained then I'm sure someone will oblige.

The Heroes: The Outcasts
The Outcasts is the catch-all description for those who aren’t one of the organised powers (the Guild, Arcanists or Ten Thunders), a semi-organized people (the Neverborn and the Gremlins) or with too large an obsession with dead things (Resurrectionists)
Leveticus: Our brave hero. A nice, friendly, older man. Not at all creepy with his self-made bionic leg, cadaverous features, strange powers, ability to create undead Abominations from those he kills or his ability to come back from the dead using anchors made from undead victims. Oh no, not creepy at all!
Rusty Alyce: A companion to our hero. A “feisty” young woman with a replacement arm (that she talks to on occasion) and a mean shot with her Clockwork Seeker pistol who can also transform those she defeats into Abominations.
Hannah: The chief librarian of the Freikorps. She goes to battle in a large armoured suit, swinging a massive censer and casting the spells of friends and enemies.
Friedrich: Member of the Freikorps. Wears a “Strongarm Suit”, effectively powered armour that grants strength, great leaping ability and the power to shoot his enemies or have them injure themselves when they try to hit him.
Jayanne: Freikorps librarian. In the Freikorps the librarians don’t just look after the books, they read them looking for all the dangerous, interesting, bits and then use those either to heal their allies or to hurt their foes.
Ashes and Dust: A pair of symbiotic demons, “Dust Storm” and “Ashen Core” that, when combined, form “Ashes and Dust”, a fearsomely fast and vicious creation capable of creating Abominations. When Ashes and Dust has taken too much damage it splits into the two parts, which can re-combine to reform Ashes and Dust.
Abominations: Strange little “pets” made by Leviticus (and also Alyce, other Abominations and Dust and Ashes) out of “spare” parts from bodies and bits of machinery. Really slightly repellent.
Freikorps: A large mercenary organisation able to provide a range of services. Famous for their “suits”, overalls that provide armour and protection from blasts.

The baddies: Neverborn
The Neverborn claim to be the original inhabitants of Malifaux. They might not be right though…
The Dreamer: The astral projection of a young child who, when he sleeps on earth, finds himself in Malifaux able to act on his every whim and accompanied by a strange collection of creatures. A true villain who should be booed and hissed at upon sight.
Widow Weaver: A strange frog/spider type thing in a flora dress with lots of sharp teeth. Spins webs that can suck out will power. See, I told you the Neverborn are yucky.
Baby Kade: An evil spirit with the appearance of a small baby armed with a very big knife. Likes to stab people in the calves (it would be the back, but he can’t reach that far). Enjoys spending time with Teddy.
Teddy: A large, fluffy, furry teddy bear. Loveable and huggable and with massive claws, huge teeth, a tendency to swallow its victims, a rotting stench and “a mean streak a mile wide”. The one following the Dreamer around seems to be pink…
Waldegesit: Strange creatures who look a lot like trees. Yes, in Malifaux even the plants want to kill you.
Insidious Madness: Annoying balls of assorted limbs, gibbering, mouths and laughter. And yes, they really are mad.
Stitched Together: Animated bags of sacking, filled with nasty things and sewn into rough human shapes. They are able to get you to “bet your life”, with the loser of the bet taking a real kicking. Yeuch!
Daydreams: Little sprites, manifestations of the Dreamers wandering thoughts. Small, ugly and slightly irritating.

The baddies: Ten Thunders
The Ten Thunders are an organised criminal syndicate of sneaky and lying types who often pretend to be someone else.
Mei Feng: A senior enforcer for the Thunders who the Arcanists think is a leader of rail worker crews in their Mineworkers and Steamfitters Union. See I told you they were sneaky lying types. Mei Feng is a fearsome fighter and able to vent steam, creating an obscuring cloud.
Kang: Mei Feng’s sidekick. He is a tall, bald, wielder of a fearsome shovel and with sneaky abilities to heal himself.
Fuhatsu: A big strapping lad who had a bit of an unlucky accident and is now fairly far from being the sharpest tool in the box. He does though have a very large, steam powered, Gatling gun that he likes to use.
Samurai: The traditional semi-noble Japanese warrior, slightly modernised through the addition of a large steam powered Gatling gun.
Tokarage: Sneaky “ninja” types, harder to hit when they are on their own but they hit harder when they are with others.
Lone Swordsman: “Noble” and “brave” warrior “hero”, dedicated to slaying the enemies of the Ten Thunders (apparently through heart attacks as they try to chase him).
Monk of High River: Highly trained martial artist who isn’t bitter that he’s spent his adolescence on a bare mountain in the company of goats and old men (though they weren’t always easy to tell apart). No, not bitter at all about living in a freezing hovel as part of a tee-total, single gender, commune. Not all! No sirrah!

The baddies: The Guild
The Guild rule both Earth and Malifaux, ruling with a rod of iron (seemingly strong but subject to corrosion and being bent). Think of them as pre-revolutionary France but with the propaganda and secret police state of Stalinist Russia (but without the compassion).
Perdita Ortega: Leads the Ortega family, the Guild’s main weapon against the Neverborn. Has a collection of fancy movement tricks and no, she isn’t pleased to see you it is a very large pistol in her pocket.
Francisco Ortega: Perdita’s brother and self-appointed protector (though why a tough as nails sharp shooting gunslinger needs a protector is surely a matter for debate). Mix of bodyguard and duelling expert.
The Judge: Usually seen with Lady Justice, part of the Guild’s anti-Resurrectionists/anti-undead force. Wields an overcomplicated sword/gun affair and able to compel others with his commanding voice.
Brutal Effigy: Small puppet type thing that has taken to following the Guild forces around and helping them out on occasion. Dresses a bit like a caricature of the Guild’s members.
Brutal Emmissary: A very large, ram headed, thing. What the Brutal Effigy grows up to become. Carries around a big sword, a cage with a trapped prisoner and likes “burying” opponents. Steadfastly refusing to go into therapy to discuss any of this.
Death Marshal: A magically empowered specialist in dealing with the undead and their masters. Famed for their pine boxes into which they can force their victims to take them back for punishment.
Guild Hounds: Dogs trained to support the Guild’s troops. Probably brighter than most of those they have to work with. Not much else to say on them really.

I notice that in 'Our Heroes' section you somewhat gloss over the fact that Leviticus exploits women by sucking their souls from their bodies and then sacrificing their bodies to allow him to carry on his nefarious schemes in spite of the valiant efforts of the Guild to shut him down. You also neglect to mention that he is in league with a wider variety of rogues, both alive and undead, than any other necromancer. His monomania and boundless egotism leads him to believe that he has a crucial role to play in the history of Malifaux, but as has become apparent his repeated resurrections are beginning to take a toll on his body.
Levi is no hero. He is a sad deluded, creepy old man, doomed to die. Perdita is the hero, the saviour of Malifaux for humanity.
