Dear all,
Following my previous article, I believe there is sufficient interest to run a quick little competition in Art de la guerre.
The entry qualification is that the army must date to before 600BC. I know the lists are scattered about i the book, but there is quite a wide choice with virtually all the troop types available.
This is to counter the perception that early armies are inevitably going to be defeated by later ones: we will remove the later ones from the competition, so all the early stuff can stand or fall on its own.
I will be running it in 25mm and 15mm scales. I will be playing New Kingdom Egyptian in 25mm, and will play if needed to balance numbers in the 15mm using Later Hebrew.
I have had the promise of some armies available to borrow if people want to play but havent got the figures painted yet.
So if you want to play, please email me with what scale( or both), what army ( or what you would need to borrow). ideally, army lists as well, and in any case, by New Year.
I am looking to get this started in the new year. I dont anticipate a massive entry, so want to get this done quickly so that the way is clear for an ADLG "open" later in the year.
I expect about eight players in each scale, so it will probably be a couple of leagues and a knock out afterwards, but this will depend on numbers.
The scoring will be the same as for this years open, but with the addition of a point if the army includes chariots that are not carrying a general. I will notify you of whether your army qualifies when
the list is checked. It will be one list, fixed for the competition, to encourage people to submit balanced lists and to prevent gamesmanship about tailoring a list around an already seen opponent.
Hope all the above makes sense, if not ill try and explain it at the club
Tony
